Ich bin ein Student aus Spanien. Im September fahre ich nach München für ein Jahr. Ich habe viele Fragen, aber ich spreche nur ein bisschen Deutsch, daher möchte ich lieber auf Englisch schreiben.

First of all, I have been told that, in order to study at the TUM university, I need to have health insurance with any of the german insurers. I have been said that I just need to send them the International Health Insurance Certification and fill out a form. Do you have any advice on what insurer should I choose? I don't know, maybe there's one that is best for our "situation" (Type 1 Diabetes).

Also, here in Spain I just have to go to the doctor to get a prescription for insulin, and then go to the chemist's with it and buy it for about 1-2 Eur (the health insurance pays the rest). How does it work in Germany? Is the system similar? And do you have to pay at the chemist's too? Or the whole amount is charged to the Krankenkase?(In my case, the Krankenkase would charge my spanish insurer afterwards, I guess)

I could bring my own medicins from Spain, but I'm going to stay for a whole year, so I would prefer not to do it...

Is there any other thing I should know?

Frage doch mal bei deiner Krankenkasse in Spanien nach, ob sie dir deinen Quartalsbedarf (die Menge, die du alle 3 Monate bekommst), nach Deutschland nachschicken, per Post oder so.

Mir ist nicht bekannt, dass du als EU-Ausländer extra eine Versicherung in Deutschland abschliessen musst um hier behandelt und versorgt zu werden.
Ich kenne leider das spanische Gesundheitswesen nicht, aber gibt es bei euch so etwas wie einen Auslands-Krankenschutz und greift der in diesem Fall?

Erkundige dich bitte bei deiner spanischen Versicherung, die müsste sich normalerweise um deine Versorgung kümmern. von Commodus

you know , spain is one of the members of eu, like germany, and others. alll thei have an agreement that the original health-identiticard, in all european countries is welcome.
the same like the german card ist able to use in spain.
outside of eu are more problems.
