Hallo Robert,
vor allem braucht Ihr einen guten Diabetologen, der sich mit kindlichem Diabetes auskennt.
Ich empfehle Euch das Forum für diabet. Kinder und ihre Eltern bei

Hi Robert,
it´s quite a problem ;-)
Althoug you can give your son the same dose of insulin every day, it´s quite difficult to give such a young child always the same amount of carbohydrates. Next to that his blood glucose depends on hours of sleeping or being "activ" - the more activities, the more carbohydrates (or instead less insulin) he will need.
Loss of hair is no typical sign (!) of diabetes or one of its associated diseases. So I´d ask a doctor for any other diseases as soon as possible. Any other disease could probably cause bad values of blood glucose, too, by the way.
Best wishes, Anke.

Thank You Anke. I insisted yesterday that the doctors take a complete blood analysation to see if he has any other disorders. He has been in the hospital now for 4 weeks today. They don´t know how long it will take for the einstellungen. von Robert Lufrano -

Hi Robert,
I did´n know that your son is still in hospital. In that case surely every one of the doctors can give you better information than anybody else. You see, there are such a lot of reasons which could cause loss of hair (and possibly pathognomonic symptoms) that it´s difficult to give an adequate answer "online".
It´s a problem sometimes that doctors don´t seem to have enough time to explain detailed. Just don´t stop asking ...! It concerns the wellness of your son and you are right if you ask as long as your interest isn´t satisfied.
The adjustmend of insulin dependend diabetes often takes quite a lot of time. Even concerning children .... don´t lose your patience ...
Today diabetic patients don´t need any diabetic diet (as they did up to a few years ago) for there are lots of different kinds of insulin now, which can "manage" nearly every kind of carbohydrates.
Perhpas you´re also interested to try a so called "insulin-pump" sometimes - there are hospitals in Germany yet, which give them to children, too. It´s a kind of therapy, which makes the adjustment of diabetes easier. You can have a look at www.accu-chek.de if interested.
Best wishes,
